Research Associate
Mien serves as a Research Associate within The Khana Group. He researches and supports the delivery of pragmatic approaches towards achieving success, creating high performance standards and establishing a competitive firm within Africa.
Mien has nearly ten years of experience in education at the secondary and higher education levels, having served with TRIO programs Upward Bound, Student Support Services, GEAR Up, Educational Opportunity Fund and the Ronald McNair Program, all of which had a keen focus on increasing equity in higher education for at-risk and underrepresented populations. In his most recent role as a Program Developmental Specialist at Rutgers University, he managed operations, planning, and implementation of programming for federal STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) grant programs, the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Program and the Science Talent Expansion Program.
Along with being actively involved in urban communities through volunteering and mentoring, he also co-founded and runs a non-profit organization, Liberian International Foundation for Education (LIFE), which is engaged in activities that motivates and challenges at-risk youths to excel academically, socially and professionally. Mien is a graduate of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, having earned his B.S in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He received his M.A in Organizational Leaderships from Rider University Graduate School of Education.
