The Khana Group participates in the US Government Forum on Ebola in Washington, DC
On Wednesday, February 25th, TKG attended the Congressional Forum on Ebola for Building Resilient Communities. The event started with an introductory video by Dr. David Nabarro, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon’s Special Envoy for Ebola, followed by an assorted panel of Government, Education and NGO representatives to discuss the current status of Ebola in West Africa.
The diverse panel walked the audience through multiple aspects of the international emergency response to Ebola- from research, to policy provisions, to government distribution of funds- and allowed for an interactive session to address comments and concerns. USAID, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania State University, Project Concern and Oxfam America representatives all shared their capabilities and challenges to relieving West Africa of Ebola, along with recommendations on how the international community can assist in the efforts.
This session, which addressed the complexities of dealing with the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, while bringing together many key players in the international community, provided TKG with the inspirational guidance needed to approach future development projects.
